The Making of a Circle
This story has been said of Giotto di Bondone & Michelangelo , it goes like this: A pope asks for a proof of skill, sending a servant to see an example of talent. The artist (Michelangelo or Giotto) then calmly draws a perfect circle freehand, sending it back with the servant. The result? Michelangelo did paint the Sistine Chapel.
I like this story for a number of reasons, but mainly for the fact that it shows how something as simple as a circle can be the making of an artist.
